Richard has a rich history in the entertainment sector, with over 25 years experience as an Investor and Corporate Executive in Technology, Media and Consumer industries across the US and Asia. Richard is currently Founder and Managing Partner of Georgian Pine Management, a development company working in film, TV and new media.
Richard Chang: Successful Entrepreneur, Advisor & Corporate Executive
Richard's experience is expansive, with direct experience investing and acting in an advisory capacity in both public markets and private equity for over 30 companies, with a transaction value of over $20 Billion USD.
Over the past 25 years, Richard has gained ample experience investing in many companies that would go on to be publicly listed or acquired by global conglomerates and enterprises. His portfolio has included Bit Auto (IPO: BITA), Blip.tv (Acquired by Disney), Beijing Lingtu Software, Bet.works (Pending Acq by BALY), Skyflying Media, Quantcast and Two Bit Circus, where he also serves as Asia Chairman.
Richard also helped launch two Shanghai based Venture Capital funds: Gobi Partners ($800M), a leading early stage digital media fund backed by Disney, McGraw-Hill, IBM, Nokia and NTT Docomo as well as and IPV Capital ($1.5Bln), a semiconductor and hardware focused multi-stage technology investor.
Richard Brings Prodigious Experience to VIMworld
In addition to having a keen eye for investing, Richard has a vast amount of experience in the world of entertainment media, acting as Operating and Financial Executive in multiple top-tier companies. He served as an executive in Sony as well as the Fung Family Group. Richard also led Sony Asia's Corporate Development and Mergers and Acquisitions for Sony Pictures Entertainment.
Richard also co-founded and played a key role in launching:
Columbia Pictures Asia, the first Hollywood film studio to produce Mandarin Language Films (Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, for example)
Columbia TriStar Television Asia, a producer of Mandarin Chinese television programming
SONY MAX and AXN India, satellite television channels in India
Led the acquisition of Sony's Taiwanese Cable Channel JV Super TV, also serving as interim CFO
Heralding From A Veritable Media Empire
Founded in 1906, the Fung Group of companies is now a global conglomerate with US$22 Billion in revenue and over 45,000 employees. The group is a worldwide leader in supply chain management for retailers and brands. During Richard's time as CFO, he helped manage major Asian brands such as Suhyang, a leading South Korean retailer of premium children's apparel with over 210 retail locations. He also served as Senior Vice President of Group Acquisitions in the Fung Group, overseeing North American Mergers and Acquisitions.
All told, Richard has worked with major global brands across Asia and North America. The experience and professionalism he brings to VIMworld will be a colossal boon.

Amazon Prime上悄悄上架了一部新的辦公室喜劇 “The Next Unicorn” ! 這部目前才推出三集的迷你影集結合了時尚科技產業與辦公室八卦日常，運鏡方式輕鬆，主角對白各個好笑，看過得人評價全部一面倒的五顆星，還不追嗎?
“The Next Unicorn”是由亞裔女星Elizabeth Chang自導自演，故事圍繞一間位在矽谷的服飾科技新創公司Le Satchel， 中辦公室裡發生的故事。主角Olivia是這間公司的首席設計師，影集一開始就從Olivia打包走人的畫面開始，往前倒述這間公司將會被主要競爭對手併購，進而有可能需要面對裁員的狀況。觀眾必須要從HR一個個考核內部員工的對話內容，來拼湊完整的故事。影集節奏明快，角色個性明顯突出，讓人意猶未盡。
雖然是部喜劇，但是劇本要探討的主題卻是真實且嚴肅的。

New Fashion-Tech Dramatic Comedy "The Next Unicorn" in the Echoes of Silicon Valley and The Office -- Premieres on Amazon Prime April 22nd
CALABASAS, Calif., April 22, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- The Next Unicorn ("TNU"), an office comedy about life in a fashion-tech startup, announced its April 22nd Premier debut on Amazon Prime, with three fun-filled episodes. TNU is the creation of Elizabeth Chang, who wrote, stars and co-directs the series.
Set in Calabasas, The Next Unicorn follows the ups and downs of startup life for the employees of Le Satchel, a subscription clothing company, as seen through Olivia, Lead Designer. Tensions rise amidst an impending merger with a larger competitor, Thread and Needle. Olivia faces tough decisions as the two companies work through the inevitable post merger RIF (Reduction In Force). The cast also includes Brent Harvey (Struggleing), Timothy Huls, (Rough Edges), Meagan Madson (People Who Brunch), Richard Chang, and Begine White-Klein.
The series is upbeat and fast paced, but also has serious moments. "It's written with the structure of a drama, and with the pacing and tone of a comedy," comments, Elizabeth Chang. "At heart, it is about love, loyalty, and celebrating and embracing what makes each of us unique. As a mixed-race, Chinese American and Jewish, Writer, Director and Actress, diversity is important." The majority of TNU cast are minorities and/or female identifying.
